July 5th Marathon Training Run

I had a 10-mile training run today. Since I was up late watching re-runs of Paradise Hotel, I was a little worried I would be too tired. But I actually had a great run today.

I was the fourth person — and the first female — to finish from my training group.

I finished in 1:30 (9 minute miles) and if I can run the marathon at that pace, I’d finish in 3.9 hours! That’s a full hour faster than my marathon time in 2002. I’m hoping my speed work during the week will help me maintain that pace.

I fully intend to reverse the benefits from the run at my friend’s BBQ today. He is making carrot cake for dessert. mmmMMMmmm

Next week I have two training runs and a long run. I will be testing to predict my marathon finish time by completing Yasso’s 800s (10X800 runs with a short jog between each run). I will fill you in on my run time after the training run next week.

As you know, I am raising funds for diabetes research. Here are a few ways you can help support me.

1. Invite your Facebook friends to join this group.
2. E-mail anyone you know who might want to donate in honor/memory of someone.
3. Donate some scrilla. Who wants to be first? There is a theme of firsts this week so why break the chain? $26.20 is $1 per mile and you’ll be an exclusive member of club “2620″.

Here’s my page: http://www.diabetesaction.org/site/TR/Events/Tributes?px=1097641&pg=personal&fr_id=1160

Please let me know if you donate in honor or memory of somebody. The story will inspire me and I need something to keep me focused out there.
